This is a really beautiful song I just heard by Carrie Underwood. The lyrics are great... especially the last part about the grandpa who is dying.

Here are the lyrics and of course I'll share the music video with you :-)

Temporary Home
 Carrie Underwood

Little boy, 6 years old
A little too used to being alone
Another new mom and dad
Another school
Another house that'll never be home

And when people ask him how he likes this place
He looks up and says with a smile upon his face

This is my temporary home
Its not where i belong
Windows and rooms that i'm passing through
This is just a stop on the way to where i'm going
I'm not afraid because i know
This is my temporary home

Young mom on her own
She needs a little help got no where to go
Shes looking for a job looking for a way out
Cause a halfway house will never be a home

At night she whispers to her baby girl
Someday we'll find our place in this world

This is our temporary home
Its not where we belong
Windows and rooms that we're passing through
This is just a stop on the way to where we're going
I'm not afraid because i know
This is our temporary home

Old man, hospital bed
The room is filled with people he loves
And he whispers don't cry for me
I'll see you all someday

He looks up and says
I can see gods face

This is my temporary home
Its not where i belong
Windows and rooms the i'm passing through
This is just a stop on the way to where i'm going
I'm not afraid because i know
This was my temporary home

This is our temporary home

My man is busy drawing some things for his portfolio, while watching Pearl Harbor of course, so I thought it would be a good time to update ya'll on our non-excitement filled life :-)

His break thus far has been filled with friends, food, sleeping in, staying up late watching movies, and cherishing the time we get to spend together. He goes back in a few weeks to start his second semester.  This semesters project will revolve around car interiors and Steven is really looking forward to it.  It's so weird to think that he only has one more semester (after this one starts) and then he's done here! Pretty exciting if I can say so.  We are greatly looking forward to him graduating and working towards us both being "settled" for once. We were laughing the other day because in about 1 1/2 years time, we have moved twice and will probably be moving again at least one more time this year.  Crazy.  We have a couple of decisions to make coming up and are having fun thinking/praying and dreaming about them. But obviously, more will be shared when we know more and feel like it's a good time to share :-)

We've been having a lot of fun trying out new recipes lately and have been greatly enjoying trying new recipes regarding desserts!  Last night, we made Apple Betty in the crock pot... it was quite good!

Anyways, I can't really think of anymore updates.  See, told ya we live a non-exciting life :-) Haha.

Until next time...

Random things you never needed to know about me. It's Monday and Monday's bring laziness, boredom, and random facts apparently. Kidding, I just saw this on someone's blog and thought it was a cute idea.

So, here's 23 things you definitely don't need to know about me :-)

I absolutely love the beach. However, I really don't care for going in the ocean.  The salt water feeling on my skin afterwards drives me crazy. So, if you happen to get me in the water, upon exiting I will immediately run to the nearest shower.

My husband is my best friend, he is probably the only one in the world that knows every little detail about me.

I'm fairly open about anything that has happened in my life, but I don't trust people easily. Over and over again, have I realized how fake people are and I don't care to be around people like that.

I truly believe that Raleigh is one of the best cities in the U.S. I absolutely love/loved living there.  However, I am more than ready to move somewhere else in the U.S. and experience and grow to love another city.

I can be very messy but within the mess, I always have some sort of organization if that makes any sense.

I have to wake up to music... the beeping sounds scares me and will put me in a bad mood. Ask my husband, he learned that the hard way ;-)

I love bacon but hate bacon bits. Ew, the thought of them makes me gag. Weird, I know.

I always have to sleep in the left side of the bed.

My love language is physical touch.

I love working with my hands. In middle school, I took a wood working class that I loved and was one of the only girls in it.

I am absolutely terrified at the thought of child birth.  I always took a ton of classes that taught about it, and I learned way too many details that scarred me.

I have a small mole on my left thigh that I've always said is my "modesty mole."

I want to get porcelain veneers.

I really want to adopt one day.  Watching all the orphaned kids in Haiti made me want to go rescue all of them.

The older I've gotten, the more emotional I've gotten.

I forgive way too easily.

My mom taught me the saying, "fake it till you make it" and I find that I practice that with people I don't care about a lot.

I think i've gotten uglier the older I've gotten. It's weird.

I love to travel but hate flying.  I don't stop praying the entire flight. No lie.

I hate living in a small town because i'm use to being in a big city.  I don't think this will ever change.

I'm terrified of dying. I love life so much.

I'm very sensitive and usually put on an act that I'm not.

Overly loud people and people with strong personalities overwhelm me.  Maybe that's why i've become more shy the older I've gotten.

Pillow Talk

It's almost 3 am. What an appropriate title to this post.

I'm exhausted. But can't sleep.

Husband is snoring.  He's so tired. It's keeping me up. I"ve been laying in bed for 2 hours trying to sleep.

I love that man even though I can't sleep.

My side feels like someone is stabbing it. Not good.

My stomach hurts, eh, at least I'm alive. Right?

Design show was awesomely cool. Lots of cool designs and concepts there.

A decent amount of car designers showed up from various car companies like BMW, Jaguar, Mercedes, etc.

A couple of internships given out.

Excited for the people who got internships. Lord knows this economy sucks.

Wondering if I'm allergic to cooking oil. Wondering if that's even possible. Maybe i'll allergic to potatoes?

Had the song from Happy Days stuck in my head. All. Day. LONG.

Contemplating sleeping on the couch. Yes, i'm that desperate for sleep.

Wondering if it's possible to muffle snoring by applying pillow to said persons face without killing them. Probably not a good idea. Please don't take that as I want to kill my husband. No need to read into that :-)

SO wish it was Monday afternoon.

Dreaming about Steven graduating.  Wonder what life will be like once we get settled.

Love being Steven's wife.

Loving not having contact with the world. Yes, it is nice at times.

Really loving being able to experience this with Steven. Sometimes feel special for being able to experience this with him alone.

Lips hurt real bad. Why is it I get chapped lips every time we go out?

Praying for internship.  Too bad I heard that they are no paid internships for 1 year.

Really wanting to go home. To Raleigh.

Really miss Chick-fil-A and family/friends.

Starting to think this post is getting too long. Wonder if people realize that writing helps me get my mind off things.  Wonder if people know what "pillow talk" means.

Hmm...to sleep on the couch or not? Or sleep with earphones in? Wishing they sold Breath Right strips here. Desperate for quietness :-)

Have I mentioned today that I love Steven. He is amazing.  I loved watching him "man" his project.  He's such a trooper :-)

Bathroom Talk

No really, bathroom talk. Not the usual bathroom talk, ya know the kind where your mom blushingly covered her face then dragged your behind to the bathroom to shove soap in your mouth. Yeah, we've all been there. I still vividly remember my first (and last) experience with that hard, slimy, smells good only when you're washing with it, soup. Blah, I can still remember trying to hold my tongue back as far as it would go.  So yes, we've all been there. I think my sweet, people pleaser, goody two-shoes of a husband has even had his mouth washed out with soup. Gasp, I know, I was shocked when he told me too.

I'm still gasping. Pick up your jaw, Kimberly. Ok, i'm good now.

But seriousy, let's have an honest conversation about the bathroom. That small square space in our apartment I avoid like the Black Plague. It's chores like this that make me want to claim sickness just to get out of doing them. Yes, I was that child, haha.

So, the idea I had was that I would pick up my pride and inability to clean the toilet without gagging, and surprise my husband. Seems simple enough, right? Too bad this chick right here, hates cleaning the toilet.  I'm the girl who if I were able to, would clean the toilet looking like this:

and wearing these:

Yes, that would be me.... mckfreaky-freak.

Back to my story...

The most hated item in a bathroom, to me at least, it this:

I call that "thing" the pee stick. Except this one doesn't tell you if you're pregnant or not, haha.  I walked into the bathroom confident and sure that in about 8 minutes, the toilet would be sparkling. Ha, I set my expectations way too high.  Let's just say that I lasted 2 minutes before I was gagging over the sink telling myself that this was not a good idea. Not at all.  And, while we're on the topic of bathrooms, why is it that everytime you want to do "the dirty work" aka, clean the toilet, that your hair never stays in place! Seriously! Everytime I get ready to clean the bathroom, I put on my ugliest, don't care anything about it, shirts and then I carefully put my hair back behind my ears. But, the moment I bend over to start cleaning the toilet, walah! My hair is all in my face... and then starts the task of trying to put it back behind my ears using as least fingers as possible due to the fact that they have been near or in a toilet. You know you guys do it too... it's like a funky dance of jumping around and rubbing the back side of your hand against your head. Like you're a hamster or something, haha.

I am pleased to say that only 20 minutes later and 5 gag sessions later, the toilet was sparkling! Yes, I accomplished something.

Oh well, we all have a household chore that we hate doing. Right?

This is the picture that popped up upon clicking onto foxnews.com tonight. I thought the picture was a tad funny :-) Can't say I don't disagree with the ad!

Does anybody else find it highly annoying that the guy down our hall blasts his music so loud that I can be in the shower and still hear it? It literally is so loud that I feel like i'm in a club that is playing crappy music.  I can feel the vibrations when I'm standing. Yes, it is so annoying. Lately, people have felt the need to blast their music everyday until about 2ish in the morning. And, if you know me and how I like to listen to music, you would know that loud music doesn't usually bother me. I listen to my music loud.  But, to blast it to the point that I cant hear anything OTHER than your music? Yeah, um dude down the hall... we've got a problem.

Oh, and whoever keeps catching their apartment on fire...please stop too.  Steven and I aren't too fond of the smokey smell.... or the cigeratte smell that fills our entire apartment about once a day because of the person that smokes next to our door. Classy, I know.

Oh well, ever have a day you just need to vent? Yeah, this is one of those days. I feel better already :-) I just thought you guys would enjoy a glimpse into what we deal with on a daily basis.  If I haven't said this before, I'll say it now... I cannot wait to live in a house. Oh yes, I dream about it all the time.  A place where I won't have people throwing rocks at my windows, chopping wood beneath my floor, blasting music all night, smoking in front of my door, and the best part, not having to listen to my neighbor take a bath every single day around 11 am right after he pees.

Yes, Mr. Neighbor beside us, I can hear you pee. Quite well if I may add.  And, I can hear you fill the bath, get in the bath, and slosh around the bathtub everyday around 11.

Ok, that's enough venting for today :-) You guys all know you have days where you just need to vent.

Next post will be much happier, haha!

Another week...

Whew, I made it to Friday alive.  I said that like I actually had a stressful week, but I didn't.  Oh, the life of a stay at home....... wife.  Stressful, I know.  All that extended sleeping, constant cleaning, and meal preparing wears me out, let me tell you. Totally kidding. So yes, it is now time for 5 question Friday! Ok, deep breath.... here I go.  Click over to Mama M's fantastic blog to read up on everyone else's answers :-)

My Little Life

1. What is better, growing old with out money or dying young and wealthy?
I'd rather grow old without money.  Everyone knows that money doesn't make you happy.... it makes life easier but doesn't come with a "guaranteed happiness" tag on it. Plus, dying kindof um... freaks me out, so I want to live as long as possible! I like my life :-)
2. Who takes out the garbage at your house?
Oh, that's easy.  My sweet, hot, stud of a husband.  Yep, he knows if I had to do it, I would have a huge gag session. Blah, there's just something about trash that disgust me. I tried it once and got some type of liquid on my hands and almost lost my whole lunch. So yes, my knight in shining armor graciously takes it out.

3. Have you ever had the same dream many times?
Well, I've never had the exact dream over before, but I have dreams that have the same theme over a lot.  This whole week I've had the same theme in my dreams... someone is chasing me and trying to kill me.  Think I watch a little too much 24, eh? I've always had weird dreams...

4. Can you play a musical instrument?
Why yes, yes I can :-) I play the flute quite..... horribly. I played all 3 years of middle school and hated every moment of it. Ok, well not every moment, but I didn't like it. Band was what the "band dorks" did and I worked hard to not maintain that status. Oh well, what can I say my mom wanted a musician ;-) And, if singing counts then I love to sing!

5. If you owned your own store, what would you sell?

Hmmm, I've always wanted to open my own store. The two types of stores I've always thought about opening were 1) a family owned coffee shop/cafe or 2) a store like Charlottes (if you know what that store is) because they have the cutest stuff in there....here's the link to their store so you get the drift: Charlottes, Inc.

MckLinky Blog Hop

It's friday.  I wish it were 5 o'clock.  Husband comes home at 5ish. Looking forward to hamburger helper. Lame, I know but we like it.  Maybe going out - aka, downstairs to the cafe/bar/restaurant.  Need more handsoap.  I wish these dishes would just disappear. I hate dishes. And, i hate pruny hands. Hot water last no longer than 15.2 minutes. Yes, the .2 is vital in that estimate. Miss my family.  Really want to eat all the raisinets. Really want husband home.  Miss him.  Bed is calling my name but I've already slept about 11 hours. Don't hate.  It's the life of a girl without children, and I love my sleep.  And freedom. Really hope this health bill does not pass. Because this girl right here, will not be happy.

Ok, done rambling... ever wonder what it's like to be in my brain? Well, there ya go!  Feel special because not many people get to "experience" my way of thinking ;-) Kidding, you probably felt smarter before you read that whole list, haha!

Anyway, remember those dishes I just said I wish would disappear? Yeah, they're calling my name. So, until next time...
