Not Me! Monday

Ya'll this bloggin' girl is back in action! After three marvelous weeks of being in good ole' North Carolina, my hot stud of a husband and I are now back in Germany. So, what does that mean to my avid or not so avid readers? It means that ya'll will be overcome with day to day posts full of interesting material.  Ok, ok, so I may not write about interesting stuff, but us being back means that I will have the time to blog now.  So, what better way to kick off this week than with a Not Me! Monday post?!

Let's see what has not happened in my life lately... Oh, and make sure to pop over to Mckmama's blog for some more interesting and somewhat hilarious tales...

It was not me (and my studly husband) that were stranded in Hamburg's amazingly boring airport for 11+ hours.  We did not miss our connecting flight to Stuttgart because our flight coming into Hamburg did not leave 45 minutes late.  We did not run like mad men trying to make the flight.  We were not bitter and did not spend the 11+ hours sulking and eating with another girl who had missed the flight as well. P.S. Natalie (the girl who missed the flight that we made friends with), you rock!

My husband and I did not travel for 31 hours to get home this week.  We did not get in until past midnight when we were originally suppose to get in at 10 am that day. We did not fall asleep at Hamburg's airport due to the fact that we hadn't slept in over 24 hours.

My husband and I did not sleep until 4 pm on Saturday. Nope! Hey, at least we have an excuse. Jetlag anyone? :-)

Notice a theme? Yes, we have just arrived home so all the Not Me's! are about us traveling :-)

Meet jetlag.

Jetlag is not my friend, nor will it ever be.

Jetlag is causing me to be wide awake and starving at 1:52 am.

Jetlag caused my husband and I to sleep until 3:55 this afternoon.  Yes, we slept for almost 14 hours, but that could be due to our utter exhaustion yesterday.

Jetlag needs to go away and never return :-)

Here are a few pictures from this evening:

Sitting in Hamburg's airport waiting to board... We were only going slightly insane by this point :-)

Starting the hike to our apartment... This picture doesn't show the deepest snow we were walking through...

Oh, I just love having snow crammed into little compartments in my luggage!

The duffle bag's life with us was short lived... when we picked it up in Hamburg the entire handle on one side was ripped off.

Flying and me don't go together...

After around 31 total hours of traveling, one missed flight, one lost suitcase (which they found, thank God!), one way too long train ride, 45 minutes of trucking through the snow with 3 suitcases weighing 50 lbs each, we finally made it home a little past midnight!  We were suppose to get in at 10 am.  However, after we missed our flight from Hamburg to Stuttgart because our plane from Newark to Hamburg left 45 minutes late, we had to get on the next available flight to Stuttgart.  And, guess what... that plane wasn't scheduled to leave until 6:55 pm!  On top of having to sit around a very small and boring airport all day, we ended up not being able to leave at 6:55 because our plane got delayed. Yay.  So, all in all, we sat at Hamburgs exciting boring airport for 11 stinkin' hours! Thankfully, we met a girl that was on the same flight coming to Hamburg and had missed the Stuttgart plane as well, so we hung out all day.

We were all so exhausted that we each took a row of seats and fell asleep :-)  Ya know, because Steven and I can never sleep on a plane...

Anyways, i'll update more later... it's quite an entertaining story :-)  We are just now eating dinner at 1:20 am since the last time we at was around 4 pm.

This Thursday we head back to the frozen tundra. In lieu of us leaving, I leave you with the lyrics of a song that appropriately sums it all up...

All my bags are packed I'm ready to go
I'm standin' here outside your door
I hate to wake you up to say goodbye
But the dawn is breakin' it's early morn
The taxi's waitin' he's blowin' his horn
Already I'm so lonesome I could die

So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
Cause I'm leavin' on a jet plane
Don't know when I'll be back again

Oh babe, I hate to go

I forgot to upload these pictures when we first got home....opps, better late than never :-)

Steven and I had a couple of good, long hours to spend at Stuttgart's airport on the way home.  So, we had some fun goofing around with the camera.

Can ya tell we were tired?  These pictures were taken the first leg of our trip home.  All 21 glorious hours of it!

While we were waiting for our plane, it started snowing harder and harder.... I wish this picture showed how much it was snowing.  It was so pretty!

WE ARE HOME!!!!!!!! Yay!!!!!!! We traveled for a total of 21 hours yesterday including all the trains and other means of transportation we had to take.  Our life yesterday was seriously like a clip out of the movie, "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles."

We are so excited and cannot wait to see everyone!!!

We come home tomorrow! We will be homeward bound as of 1:20 pm tomorrow!  We fly to London and then fly to RDU from London.  We hopefully we will be happily standing in RDU's airport as of 11 p.m. tomorrow!

Please pray that we will have safe travels. I really don't like flying. It always get's me a little uneasy and nervous especially when you're flying over the ocean! So, if you get really bored you can put our flight numbers in and see where we are the whole day :-)
