While walking with Steven's German class today, we stumbled across this creature that was frolicking with the the lavender colored flowers.  We were greatly amused by it.  However, we couldn't figure out what it was! Yes, the kid in me tried to catch it... but it was too fast!


Is it a hummingbird? Is it an insect? Is it a flying lobster tailed bird?  Here's a picture of it, you can decide:

Surprisingly, it's a type of moth! In person, it looks just like a hummingbird.

Here's the politically correct name: 

Hummingbird Clearwing Moth (Hemaris Thysbe)
